How to Decide if a Private University is Right for You

notepad, apple and book on a deskWhen deciding where to attend college, choosing a public or private university can make a difference. Here are a few ways private universities compare to their public counterparts.

Funding

Public universities are publicly funded, as well as receiving donations and tuition. At a private university, money typically comes from donors and tuition.

Class Sizes

At a private university, you can typically expect smaller class sizes where students get more feedback and interaction from instructors. Public universities generally have larger class sizes with less one-on-one attention.

Religious Affiliations

Some private universities, like SNU, are expressly Christian and guided by those beliefs while public entities must maintain separation of church and state.
