What Most People Misunderstand About Attitudes

Written by Chaplain Doug Samples | May 14, 2019 6:27:03 PM

What is your attitude about life?

Especially, what is your attitude when you are going through the storms of life?

Before we look at “Ten Decisions for a Great Attitude,” I need to tell you that one of my Ten Decisions is NOT“Decide to accept Jesus as your Personal Savior so He can protect you from anything bad ever happening to you, so that you can always have a positive attitude!”

I want to be clear with you. As much as I would love to have a conversation with you about the transforming power of Jesus Christ in our lives, I am NOT suggesting that if you are a Christian then you will always be happy and never have any problems.

Being a Christian does not mean we have a magic bubble around us that gives us mystical protection from all the bad things in the world.

If we read the Bible carefully, we will realize that the faith that got the three Hebrew children OUT of the fiery furnace… is the same faith that put them IN the fiery furnace in the first place! The faith that gave the Apostle Paul strength in spite of all his struggles…is the same faith that caused him to face those struggles in the first place! And the faith that made Jesus victorious over the Cross…is the same faith that put Him on the Cross!

I DO believe that we can make some decisions to help us have a better attitude as we deal with the difficult parts of life, but “Accept Jesus and everything will be hunky-dory" is not one of them.

Until then, I would love to continue this conversation with you at dsamples@snu.edu or through my prayer request form.
